Samenwerking tussen Rattery Double Trouble en Ipar Argiak Rattery
In Nederland wint de tamme rat steeds meer terrein als populair huisdier. Het zijn natuurlijk ook echt geweldige dieren Helaas is dat in Spanje anders; daar zijn ratten nog niet zo gewild én ligt de standaard voor dierenwelzijn een stuk lager. Daarom zijn Rattery Double Trouble en Ipar Argiak Rattery uit Spanje een samenwerking gestart. Ipar Argiak Rattery fokt net als ik mooie, gezonde en lieve dieren, en we hebben dezelfde uitgangspunten, maar het is gewoon zonde dat ze in Spanje niet de perfecte baasjes hebben.
Binnenkort verschijnen er ratten van Ipar Argiak Rattery op deze pagina die gereserveerd kunnen worden. Arrate komt gemiddeld twee keer per jaar naar NL en dan neemt ze de dieren mee. Dit zijn zowel rittens als ratten tot de leeftijd van één jaar. Deze kunnen dan bij mij in Zaandam worden opgehaald. Het is een win-win situatie, want Arrate hoeft geen tweede huis te kopen om al haar ratten te herbergen en wij kunnen nóg meer mensen blij maken met tamme ratten. Wil je alvast op een wachtlijst hiervoor? Meld je dan aan via 'rittens reserveren' en vermeld in de opmerkingen dat je voor ratten van Arrate reserveert. Er zullen uitsluitend huisdieren verhuizen, geen fokratten.

Hi all!
My name is Arrate and I am the owner of Ipar Argiak Rattery, based in Navarre, north of Spain. I breed mostly American blue rats (normal hair and Harley), but I also work in a smaller scale with chocolate, mink, marten and recently I have discovered the amazing world of the dwarf rats. I’m a hobby breeder, which means I don’t breed very often and most of the babies will be rehomed as potato-hammock pets.
And here’s where I have encountered my biggest challenge as an ethical breeder: finding suitable homes in Spain. Of course, I’ve found great homes here, but the general Spanish animal welfare standards are not what I expected. Most people don’t really make a thorough research before getting pet rats and, despite the fact that I always ask a basic questionnaire and pictures of housing and food, a lot of them are rehomed (most of them come back to me). I lived for 9 years in The Netherlands in the past, where I got my first ratties back in 2010. Since then, I only took a small break from my rat addiction when I moved back to Spain. They were my pets and I never bred them until February 2020 because I was focused in the intriguing universe of hamster breeding. I was registered in the Nederlandse Knaagdierenfokkers Vereniging (N.K.V.) as Hamstery Hairball.
I still travel around twice a year to The Netherlands to visit my friends and buy some Chocomel (my other addiction), so I am planning on bringing my rats during these trips. I know for a fact that Dutch people have higher standards regarding animal welfare and that’s why I offered Rattery Double Trouble to collaborate together. I know Marleen for a year and I think we have a very similar idea about what “ethical breeding” means to us, so I can only thank her for the opportunity of finding proper homes to my beloved ratties through her website!
